IMO these recommendations can be considered but are too
simplistic.
You really need to understand the needs of the company.
Deploying a system that replicates files at each site
destroys the concept of "Single Instance Storage" which
would be required in situations where a group of people
are collaborating on a project that requires all to have
the most current version.
You have to study the requirements, then know what your
options are for the situation.
BTW - I forgot the name of the Vendor, but he and others
like him sell gateways with proprietary compression. IIRC,
marketing suggested that you'd have a complete payback on
your investment with these special inter-office gateways
within 9 months.
