Thought I'd post a continuing follow-up for anyone else stuck in this
predicament and doing research of this newsgroup's posts.

The problem is related to security and the web nature of the SUS.
Apparently using SBS2k3 and the Share Point internal website has created a
requirement to enter credentials when a client queries the SUS servers's
URL. I am going to find the workaround to this over the weekend and will
post my steps for resolution when I've straightened this out.
