If a router is tossing the connection.....several things
to look at.

1) Firmware...latest firmware on the router?
2) How many users, and what speed connection? For small
networks on standard broadband accounts, Linksys routers
are "OK". But for larger networks, you're going to
overwhelm those little guys, perhaps time to stepup to a
more SOHO grade solution. Netopia routers like a 3546, or
Sonicwall, or Symantec, perhaps a little Cisco PIX. Or
even one of the new Linksys RV0 series that recently came
out. Something with a "little more nut".
3) DHCP wouldn't be what's in the way of it getting it's
connection, although it should be disabled because you
want your SBS box to govern DHCP on the LAN NIC (dunno if
you're multiple homing your server or not) But DHCP
service on routers is only bound to the built in switch
ports, not the WAN port, it doesn't affect anything on the
WAN side.
4) "Maintain Connection" box is checked on the setup page
5) MTU has been set, PPPoE DSL should ahve 1492 as the MTU
setting.
