| We are running the terminal service from our Small
| Business Server 2000. Most of the ocmpanys computers are
| running Windows XP Pro, but we do have a few remote
| employees that have computers that are running XP Home
| Edition. One of these employees that was able to log in,
| now is getting the message that his Terminal Service
| license has expired. We knew that this might happen
| because the server issues a 90 day license to the
| computer. I have been trying to find a way to buy a lient
| license for this computer (And others before they expire)
| but I have not been able to locate how to buy this, or at
| what cost. Could someone please let me know what I need
| to do to get a license for these computer?

Microsoft's desktop operating system products (including Windows XP and
Windows 2000 Professional) do not have a "built-in" Terminal Services CALs.
Rather, the Windows 2000 Server issues computers running Windows 2000 and
Windows XP Professional a "free" Terminal Services CAL from its built-in
pool (and its use is permitted under the Windows 2000 Server EULA). Windows
XP Professional is a successor to Windows 2000 Professional, and as a
result does not need a Terminal Services CAL to access a Windows 2000
Server running Terminal Services. However, Windows XP Home Edition is not a
successor to Windows 2000 Professional (rather, it is a successor to
Windows Millennium Edition) and therefore does require a Terminal Services
CAL in order to access Windows 2000 Terminal Services.
