Simon -- Cool! Glad to here you have experience with SBS. I wasn't trying to
jump on you, but unless it's a hardware failure/emergency -- speaking only
for me, the customer has no clue as to the effort involved, so its up to me
to expalin the plan and strategy, and the schedule, and identify the fall
back response.Sure they pay the bill, but since it's my %ss and reputation
on the line, I dictate how long and when it will occur and my requirements
from them.
Example: my first inplace SBS2000 to SBS2003 migration took place over a
weekend. I did two full backups (tape, ghost) of the server before hand, and
created PST files of all user and public folder mailboxes. Shoot all of that
took me most of the day on Saturday. I then returned Sat evening to do the
actual install of SBS2003, with printed copied of the SBS migration
documents close at hand. I also kept a laptop on line (separate from the
network) so I could have access to this NG and IM anyone I needed if a
question came up - which I did.
Anyway ... when you're ready to give it a go -- we're here for you!
