The whole point of Frank's excercise it to check out if you have what it
takes to send mail to another domain. If you only check mail.earthlink.com
that doesn't tell us much if you are using DNS (I assume Earthlink is your
ISP). It is possible that your ISP is blocking port 25 to everything except
their mailservers, or maybe you are getting blocked at some ISPs because you
are on a dynamic IP, ect.

So, I suggest you try this:

1) Pick a domain that you can test sending mail to (a yahoo account will do
nicely) and query the SBS' DNS for the MX (mailserver) to see if DNS
resolution is working ok.
2) Telnet 25 to the mailserver on #1 and see if you get a response.
3) Post any NDRs (Non Delivery Reports) that you get when you try to send
mail to that domain.
4) Are you having problems sending to any domain of some domains in
particular?
5) If any of this doesn't give you any ideas... then you might want to try
using a smarthost (i.e. mail.earthlink.com). This article should get you
started:
http://www.sbslinks.com/DNS_Smarthost.htm

If you don't want to use a smarthost for some reason... then we can try
sending mail directly (using telnet) to see if there is something wrong.
Check this post out for the details (do it from the server and switch the
domain names):
