On the screen with the error, yo will find directions to edit the
web.config file associated with the website that you are trying to access.
Once you set the <customerrors mode="off">, you should actually be able to
see the error causing the problem. Continue to troubleshoot from there.
Send back the results in your next post.

| I'm at my wits end on this one, I've googled it to death, to no avail.
I'm
| setting up an SBS2003Prem, actually all is installed I'm now playing
around
| with it. I CAN browse the "companyweb" but I'm unable to get past the
"user
| name and password" prompt when I click on links "Create", "Site Settings",
| "Help" etc. On the actual server, in the "Server Management" -> "Internal
| Web Site", when I click on "Manage Access" I get the same prompt, and It
| doesn't seem to care what username and password I enter. After 3
attempts,
| I get "Server Error in '/_layouts' Application."
|
| Thanks

|
| PS I've applied the sharepoint patch and done the reinstall procedure
also,
| none of which seems to actually deal with or cure this particular problem.
| Waiting anxiously :)
