Not much to go on.

No Trusts in SBS, so that quashes all that.
..also can't just change the SBServer Domain Name.

What's driving the need for a Unified Domain ?
How many Users ?
What sort of Data is needed to flow back and forth between sites ?
What sort of connection do they have ?

Could you reverse it. SBServer at metro, Member Server or BDC at remote
site ? ( See previous link )
