Hi David,
See if you can narrow it down this way:
Send an attachment to yourself, both locally and through your SMTP
connection. If one (or both) of them come back corrupt the problem
is at your end. If not, get your client to send an attachment to
themselves, and back to you. If it comes to you OK but back to them
corrupt the problem is probably with their reception.
