Why not use RWW when you can't get the rest to work.

Alternatively, you can VPN and then use your intranet.

You can also use ISA to publish a Sharepoint site on port 80 using headers
and DNS to individually identify the specific site.

A few alternative,

see each other), but we battle to get this to work all the time! The issue
is, the way I understand it is that sharepoint uses port 444, and that is
not standard, causing our clients proxy server and firewalls to block it. At
clients where it is working both firewalls and proxy server needed config
changes. If I change sharepoint to port 443 , it works great thru the
firewalls/proxy servers, but OWA stops working.
