Roger,

It is definitely some type of DNS issue. To get around
the problem I just made an entry into the HOSTS file,
which will get me by until I can determine root cause. I
have to rebuild this server soon anyway, so I'm not
really worried about it.

I really just wanted to make sure there wasn't some
strange XP/2003 and above issue that I didn't know about.
