Well we managed to solve this problem today by recreating the shortcuts by
typing the server name into run and making them form there, for some reason
making shortcuts from my network places makes navigating them very very
slow... there is a notable 2 second delay while browsing them on a 100mb
switched network. This delay is multiplied many times when navigating them
from home on an 512/256 connection, apparently up to hours according to the
client. As soon as the shortcuts are recreated by going through the run box
there is no delay and every thing is instant, the delay while navigating the
folders from home is less than on the 100mb network with the shortcuts made
from my network places! Very odd!
If anybody could shed any light on why this would be happening please let me
know.
We have also had a similar on a Windows 2000 server with a similar setup
with slow network shares and await to see if recreating the shortcuts in
this way will solve this problem as well.
Thanks
Jon
