DANGER, DANGER, Will Robinson !! Port 445 is a port for
MS File Sharing and should never be open to external
networks. This is how the latest virus/worms infect
computer systems..I hope you recheck this thread and
close unneeded ports.
<snip>
Common port assignments for SBS:
25 SMTP
80 (for HTTP>SSL redirection)
443 SSL
444 Companyweb
4125 RWW/RDP (ts to server/workstation desktops)
Some optional ports, depending on what additional
services you may want to publish:
110 Pop
1723 PPTP VPN (commonly listed as VPN passthrough which
includes GRE
(protocol 47)
3389 TS(RDP) direct to server desktop
-- Les Connor [SBS MVP] <snip> I disagree with the port ,80 (for HTTP>SSL redirection), unless you are publishing a web site to the world this port does not need to be forwarded on the router. It is sufficient to forward 443 & 444 (SSL ports for SBS). >-----Original Message----- >Thanks, > >Ended up opening 440-445 it is working now. > >Russell > > >"wk" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >news:d7b701c43a94$9048fdd0$a101280a@phx.gbl... >> 444 >> >-----Original Message----- >> >On the recommendation of the Technet Security Seminar I >> went out and got a >> >Netgear RP614v2 router/firewall for all my SBS servers. >> I have pinholed >> >(forwarded) ports 3389 ,25, 4125, 21, 443 in a effert to >> allow the server to >> >receive email, Terminal serve etc. >> > >> >All is back online but RWW, what port am I missing??? >> > >> >TIA >> >Russell >> > >> > >> >. >> > > > >. >
