I don't think the xp firewall will make a difference, but it's worth a try -
easy to disable. What make of router? It shouldn't need factory resetting,
possibly some configuration is all. The DMZ port you would think would take
the router out of the equation.
Can you ping <ip of SBS> ? Or telnet <ip of SBS> 80, and/or 443 ?
Another thing to try: I've noticed this with MS broadband routers on the
remote client end - the first time you try the url, it fails. Press Stop in
the browser while it's trying (before it fails), and then the green arrow
at the right end of the address bar.
Same thing may happen after you select the desktop computer to connect to -
you may not get a login box. Pressing back button on the browser produces an
error, ok past that, and then try the connect button again - success.
