If I remember correctly, telnet on Windows 2000 and above relys on NTLM
authentication from the workstation for it to allow it to open the session.
If you are going through the router and don't have the proper ports open for
NTLM authentication, it will not work and reject the connection. I know
that you will not want to open the ports so I won't go into detail about
them.
