Decided to upgrade the office network (2 client pcs) for practice. Read the
upgrade notes, checked the NGs, did a full backup and tested it just in
case, so of course the upgrade went well. Had logged off main office
workstation, a fully patched XP pro which had been working flawlessly on the
SBS2K network. Ran through the ToDo list on the server.. went to
workstation, logged on OK. Internet Ok, mail OK, but: couldn't connect to
server's users or data folders! Thought I'd better run computerconnect -
oops, no workstations on offer? That's funny, the server shows them (but
not under AD, I noted.) So, removed workstations from domain, deleted
computer accounts on server, rebooted workstation, recreated computer
accounts, reran computerconnect - ah, now I could see workstations! Chose
the right one, all looking good - and then I receive "an error ocurred when
configuring network settings. See you administrator." Decided to try a
manual connect - Access Denied. Drat!
IP info is all fine, DNS pointing to server, can ping, all looking good,
nothing in event logs - so what have I forgotten? BTW, searched for this in
the NG, tried a few things like turning off AV and the firewall client, but
no luck.
TIA
Norm Hughes
