Group Policies

I have been working with Windows 2000 Server as a domain
controller and am experiencing problems with Group
Policies. I created an OU called "Sales" and created a
user in the OU called Tom. I created a group policy for
the Sales OU that hides all icons on the desktop. When I
logon the domain controller as Tom the icons are hidden
as expected but when I logon to the domain from a client
computer that has joined the domain, the policy does not
take effect. Please help!
