You need to format the drive using Direct CD from ROXIO or whatever other
software came with your burner. After the format process you can use the DVD
like a hard drive. There maybe a limitation to the server system state
backup because you may have to recover from backup in dos mode. Do some
reading on the "Direct CD" type of program and make sure you can read the
disk in DOS. You may want to test it as well.
