Hello,
A local business has asked me to help them with their 2003 SBS
configuration, and I'm at a roadblock. Any guidance will be appreciated...
Connection to the Internet is made via ADSL. In the original set up, the
ADSL modem was connected to a D-Link router then to a SBS with 2 NICs. The
NIC attached to the router had a public IP address, the private NICs IP was
set to 192.168.0.253. The router provided DHCP services, although most
computers in the LAN had fixed private ip addresses. Other computers on the
LAN did receive IP address information and could navigate through to the
Internet.
Now, the change to be implemented is to remove the router and have the 2003
SBS connect to the modem directly. To this end, I made no changes to the
SBS other than to create a PPPOE connector and enter appropriate user id and
password information. SBS will connect and can browse the Internet,
however, other computers on the LAN cannot. They can resolve IP addresses,
for instance if I ping www.ford.com, the IP address will show up, however
the browser cannot see the site.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Todd Wilson
