Hi Brandon, I think that you'll like the Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server 2003: Administrator's Companion, but I am a bit biased (being a
co-author of the book). :) It's not "for dummies", but it does walk you
clearly and succinctly through virtually everything you need to know to get
up and running with SBS 2003, and pays special attention to security best
practices (As an aside, I'd suggest that your uncle setup his laptops to
encrypt the My Documents folder to minimize the repercussions of future
theft). Though we do cover advanced topics in the book, you seem like a
smart guy and I doubt that you'll feel like the coverage is over your head.
However, if you're looking for the over-the-top humor associated with
"Dummies" books, you should look elsewhere (our book is funny at times, but
very to-the-point).

Here's a link to the MS Press page for the book (which in turn links to
three online bookstores, but it should also be in Real World bookstores)

I think it's great to see young people take an interest and learn how to use
such advanced technology. As far as security goes - there's a 14 year old
Security MVP named Benjamin whom I had the pleasure to meet a couple weeks
ago, so it's certainly possible to be young and a security expert. I think
the trick is to do what we authors must do - lots of reading and research,
and a lot of playing with the technology.

This newsgroup is a great starting point (and destination) for your
learning, so if you can't find answers to your questions elsewhere post them
here and we'll all do our best to answer them.

Take care,

Jason
