I would strongly urge you to not use the UPS service in Windows, and instead
get the UPS software from APC. It'll work well, communicate with the UPS
much better, and give you a lot more control over things like UPS
calibration, self-testing, logging, etc. And, you can install the Console
software on your desktop PC to save yourself the walk to the server.
What you want is PowerChute Business Edition. It's a free download at
http://www.apc.com/tools/download/software_comp.cfm?sw_sku=SDW78 (there's a
version that costs money, too, but the primary difference is the number of
UPS's you can manage with it).
