Run a good hardware diagnostic on your dimmension.
I've seen them come straight from dell with bad memory and also bad hard
disks.
Either one could cause you headaches all the way through.
Don't depend on dell's tools.... they are no where near comprehensive.
If you don't have one see if someone might have an old copy of forfront
troubleshooter or the like.
Test the Memory Extensively..... More often than not I have found this to
be the route evil in any system.
Check your BIOS/CMOS settings and make sure you have the fail safes loaded.
You can tweak the system after you have it up if it's a performance issue
causeing the install to fail. Some Dell's were shipped with the
"performance" settings which will make some systems unstable.
Oh.... one more thing..... check your processor fans..... simple I know....
but you would be surprised at what a little heat will do....
