Hey All,

I've seen this one out there, but not quite what I have...

My SBS 2k3 server is not letting me complete the "Server
Configuration" or install the "Server Tools" through the setup.
Errors are the same ones as usual:

Server Configuration:
An error occurred while accessing domain information. Open Active
Directory Users and Computers, and verify that objects appear. Rerun
Setup.

Server Tools:
An error occurred while copying files for the Server Tools component.
See C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business
Server 2003\Logs\SBSMSI-remote.LOG for the list of files that were not
copied. You may want to run Setup again and reinstall the component.

Now, my initial install idled during the AD installation, and I had to
reset the server... AD Installed, but the SBS OU's, GPO's, etc. did
not install. I have recreated the AD Tree manually, but that has not
helped either.

I think my problems are arising from the AD Tree being incomplete.
Anyone know how to re-run that portion? What happens with SBS2k3 when
you try to dcpromo down? Everything I've seen says you can't... I'm
working remotely (2500kms away) and don't want to risk having my
server puke on me again. ;)

Anyways, if you want, I can forward anyone who can help the
SBSMSI-remote.log file...

Errorlog.txt has this in it:

Please note that trying to browse to %winroot% comes up with an error,
and there is no associated system variable for this... Is that the
problem?

So, here's what it boils down to:

1. Try to install Server Tools. I'm only trying to install the
administration portion, and none of the others (no intranet, etc. but
it does install MSDE)

2. Install asks for Discs 1 and 3

3. Install completes with failures on "Server Configuration" and
"Server Tools" with messages above, asks for reboot.

Is the Sharepoint/Intranet error that everyone seems to have related
here? Is the real issue the MSDE? Is it my missing AD Entries? Is
there a way to re-run the AD Setup? Is it the missing variable for
%winroot%?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
