The \\servername\Clients\Setup\setup.exe file that you mention checks for
client applications such as Outlook 2003, Shared Fax Client and any
required service packs. Then, if an assigned client application is not
installed on the client computer when the user logs on to the domain, this
setup.exe will launch the client application install. It does not map any
network drives.

If you do not see a home folder mapped on the Profile tab in the user
account properties, use the Resultant Set of Policy MMC snap-in to check
for scripts configured with a group policy object . To open this snap-in on
the server, click Start, click Run, type "rsop.msc" (without quotation
marks), and then click OK.

In the RSoP snap-in, expand Computer Configuration, and then expand Windows
Settings. If you have any scripts configured for computers on the network,
you will see a Scripts (Startup/Shutdown) object under Windows Settings,
which will have a Startup and/or Shutdown folder. Click these folders to
see the scripts they contain. If you do not see Scripts (Startup/Shutdown)
under Computer Configuration/Windows Settings, or if you do not find the
scripts that are creating the unwanted mapped drives, check under User
Configuration/Windows Settings to see if there is a Scripts (Logon/Logoff)
object. This object would contain any logon or logoff scripts for users on
the network.

Please let me know whether that helps.

Michael Sadoff
