Hello!

I have a client with a fairly new Dell 400SC server running Windows 2000 SBS
and SQL 2000, 1GB RAM, 1.8GHz P4. The server was at Windows 2000 SP3 and SQL
2000 with no service packs. They use an application called CalMed to run
their doctor's office. We asked CalMed if they would be any problem going to
2000 SP4 and SQL SP3a. They said there were no known issues.

While trying to alleviate some authentication problems with the XP Pro
clients, and to increase security, we installed Windows 2000 SP4, then SQL
SP3a, then the SQL Analysis Services service pack, per the SQL SP3a readme
file. Ever since then, then CPU usage is about 90% and does not drop. We
killed all the SQL services, Exchange services (they are not using
Exchange), and any extra services we could find, but CPU usage remains high.
The CalMed folks haven't been of much help. We are going to call Microsoft
on Monday if we cannot fix it this weekend.

We tried removing SP4, SQL SP3a, and the Analysis Services SP, to no avail.
CPU usage is still 90% all the time. Task Manager processes does not show
the culprit.

Since this installation is on SBS 2000, I am posting to that newsgroup as
well.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Gregg Hill
