performance and longevity using SCSI drives. One of the biggest performance
boosts I find is the RPMs of your drives. The current server SCSI drives we
use are 10,000 RPMs. Using SCSI drives I have no problems using the hard
drives on the same channel but I do put the tape drive on a different
channel.

drives workstation class hard drives, or are they designed for server use?
Maxtor have some IDE disk thats have 10.000 RPMs and is designed for server
use and is nearly close to SCSI disks in speed, but with SCSI you can get a
greater performance with RAID, i dont now if the IDE RAID have the same
performance.
And yes, there is way to many servers out there running on standard IDE
disks not made for servers.
