| Subject: Issues with Mac IE 5 and OWA
|
| I have all my PCs connected just fine to an exchange 2003 server on an SBS
| 2003 machine. On all the PCs I can get OWA from my IE 6.0 browsers.
|
| I have 3 Macs with OS 9.2 and IE 5.x. Two are G4s and one is a G3. All
| these machines are able to connect to the UAM so I am able to see the
| MacShare.
|
| When I try to get my server http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/exchange I get a
message
| that says, "the identity certificate is invalid."
|
| If I type in the server IP http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx i get the intranet page,
| as I do on my PCs, I don't get the exchange once I put in the /exchange on
| it.
|
| If I use OWA on the internet on my PC on home I also am able to get the
| intranet but am unable to get exchange when I put in the /exchange. It
| times out saying "the page cannot displayed"
|
| I have searched the web and newsgroups about this and have not found
| anything.

Hello Jose. Unfortunately, there is really only one fix to get IE 5 on the
Macintosh to be able to connect to OWA on the SBS server - purchase and
install a valid security certificate for the server. The problem lies in
that the certificate generated by the SBS install process is self-signed,
meaning that one of the "known" security providers has not validated the
certificate. IE 5 on the Mac will only recognize certificates validated by
one of the known providers.

There are third-party browsers for the Mac that do not exhibit the same
behavior as IE 5, but the best solution is to go ahead and get a
certificate from a recognized provider and install it on the server.

Hope this helps!
