For accessing e-mail on your internal network, it is highly recommended
that you run Outlook with the Exchange protocol rather than use POP3 or
IMAP. Remote e-mail work can be managed either through OWA or by using
Outlook with RPC over HTTP, if you have enabled it on your server. If you
need to keep your mail locally, either use Offline folders or transfer the
mail to a local PST file.

If you really do need to keep using the POP3/IMAP service, go into the SMTP
Virtual Server and make sure that your loopback and NIC IP addresses are in
the allowed relays, or internal mail delivery may be broken.

Thank you,

| Hello,
|
| Hello,
| I have a fresh install of SBS2003, and a domain name.
| Web, ftp, and Outlook Web Access are all working fine.
|
| People can send email to "me@abc.com" and I can send email to anyone from
| that address using the web access. Problem comes when I try use outlook
| express or outlook 2003 pop3 to retrieve my email. it just seems to time
| out. The server seems to be getting the email and sending them properly
if
| I use web access, but when I try receive it just does not retrieve
anything
| from the pop3.
|
| I was told that the pop3 service is disabled by default so I have enabled
| and started it. I have also tried using IMAP, and that seems to beable to
| retrive the email fine, but when i send from IMAP i get the following
error:
|
| Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
| Subject: test
| Sent: 3/19/2004 12:48 AM
| The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
| 'me@abc.com' on 3/19/2004 12:48 AM
| 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for me@abc.com
|
| But again in OWA i am able to send and reply to every email that was sent
to
| me@abc.com. But for some reason through IMAP it will not send out.
|
| So if anyone has any ideas or suggestion will greatly be appreciated.
|
|
| Thanks,
| -Nep
