Hi,
Were those XP machines members of another domain? Workgroup?
Try logging on locally to the machine (not the domain) with the original
user account and see if it helps.

Just in case, you may want to also check the permissions on those files, log
on as a local machine administrator, take ownership of the file and change
the NTFS permissions to allow for the proper access.
