Hank,
Have you run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard
(CEICW/Connect to Internet link on the To Do List) yet? It should configure
Exchange's recipient policies based on the email domain name specified in
the CEICW so that the users then have @tailspintoys.com (example email
domain name) added for their email address.
Couple of articles that may help..
HOW TO: Test SMTP Services Manually in Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323350
which could be used from an external machine to see if you have connectivity
and can recieve email sent manually to your server.
XFOR: How to Obtain Internet Mail Exchanger Records with the Nslookup.exe
Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;203204
which could be used to see if @tailspintoys.com would be a valid email
domain as far as the Internet is concerned and where it would go.
How are you trying to receive the email? directly? using the POP3 connector?
