One might assume that ethically, and legally you would need to purchase
SQL Server CALs, however I'm not sure that this is true in SBS 2003 as
given that the SBServer SQL Server can be used to back-end Public Web
Applications, the Licensing is I believe "Per Processor", and not "per
User". ( If not, I've no idea how you'd add additional licenses )
I'd suggest that you telephone your local Microsoft Office and speak to
the Licensing Expert there to get a Definitive answer.
...but frankly, I see no real saving in -not- having the client machines
part of the domain, and a good deal of cost in Security and
Administration in such a configuration that far outweighs the cost of a
CAL.
