Hi David,

I think you're on the right track--blow away the HDD contents and to the
basic install and then try the restore. I fought all kinds of problem with
trying to restore and that's the only thing that ever worked for me.

My backup plan now revolves around using Ghost 8.0 and a USB2.0 external hd.
I can use Ghost to get the system back up and then load my latest tape over
top of it. I plan do the Ghost image about once a month and then do daily
full sys backups to tape. I done quite a bit of testing of this on
identical hardware to my main server that I use just for testing. If you go
the Ghost route you must get the latest online update for the USB2.0 ext
drive to work at full speed. I do the Ghost images by booting from a Ghost
made 3.5"
