NAH, I'm not 'moving' the install, doing (done actually) a clean install on
the target. I couldn't see any advantage in any form of migration, there's
currently 1 local workstation and it's been flattened by becoming the
server.
I think if I had moved the install it would have been a breeze though, both
mobo's are SuperMicro 440BX's, P6SBS (coincidentally) in the /500 and a
P6DBE for the dual /850.
I'm currently posting from the old server but the new one's up. Two problems
so far, the RAID is complaining about one of the drives (or, more likely I
think, a drive which was previously attached), I'm just rebuilding the array
after stuffing around with it a bit. TREND!!!, the lousy cow. Trend didn't
like me using the domain name (lc.lan, I live in Lane Cove and am very
imaginative :), so I had to deinstall and use the IP for the IIS part of
Trend.
The '13 minute' issue took about 45 minutes but no manual intervention was
required.
Why do people insist on stuffing DHCP setup? I had the internal interface
deliberately connected to a NAT router with DHCP enabled. The install wizard
says something like 'Are you sure you don't want me to handle DHCP? Please
disable your other DHCP source and allow me to do this for you', so I
ignored it and told it to continue and it says 'LOOK. You're being really
stupid. I mean I'd REALLY REALLY TRULY like to be your DHCP source, PLEASE
disable the other DHCP server.', or words to that effect, I disabled DHCP on
the router.
OHHH, and I'm kicking m'self. I was half asleep at the time so that's my
excuse and I'm sticking to it. I forgot to make the 2nd partition and was
too lazy by the time I noticed to start again, she's running on a single 9GB
partition. I'll move databases and such when I put the other drives in.
