1. A laptop is added the same way as any other workstation. If they want to
have access to theit email boxes offsite, enable cached mode on Outlook
2003. that way they could actually queue up email responses, ewtc, and when
they get back to the office, everything will sync up and any qqueued emails
will be sent.
2. I simply like the idea of two NIC's. It may be a poor analogy, but I
think of it like a house with a screened in front porch. Your internal NIC
represents the house, your 2nd, external nic represents the front porch.
People can come by and see your screened in front porch, but even if they
try to come into the porch, they won't be able to get into the house. I say
it's a poor analogy, because with the second NIC, they can't even see that
the house exists!
3. POP3 with multiple folders for a user ... how are you doing it now?
4. Allowing suers to view each other users is very simple with Exchange --
each user, through Outlook, simply indicates who they want to allow access
to their inbox (or calendar or contacts or whatever). In fact they can
choose whether some users can only "see" the mail, while others could have
access to actually go in and clean up mail for them. Outlook does it all
built in -- but you want to be using Exchange, because all mail is then
properly stored and backed up on the server. There is no need to setup
separate folders, etc - it's all built into the product.
