Thanks for the feedback, and suggestions!

I actually went ahead and called MS support today. After
about 2 hours of troubleshooting, it was determined to be
a DNS issue, relating to the domain name suffix. The
original name was setup as 'server'. It needed to
be 'server.smallbusiness.local'. It had to be corrected
in a few different places, including under My Computer
(Computer Name tab).

Once that was fixed, the CEICW ran smoothly, and mail is
working fine.
