Les and Kevin
I appreciate your help. Followed the advise to run CEICW and also read
http://www.sbslinks.com/DNS_Smarthost.htm. Also read all the posts I could
find about Smarthosts.
Okay, so I ran CEICW tool (took me a while to find it - for those reading
this post and are also wondering it's found in the Server Mgmt app, 3rd line
down click on To Do List and then click on the "Connect to the Internet"
start button). CEICW did some things that I might have missed earlier and
seem to be one step closer.
If I send an email to myself at my ISP (username@verizon.net), I get the
email back fine.
If I send an email to another email address (like username@work.com), the
email is kicked back with the error:
"username@work.com on 2/11/2004 11:26 PM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was
sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find
out the correct address.
<company.local #5.1.1>
Here's my settings in CEICW:
Broadband
Local router device with an IP address (have only 1 NIC)
Pref DNS: 192.168.2.1 (DSL router acts as DNS forwarder)
Router IP: 192.168.2.1 (DSL router acts as gateway)
Enable Internet e-mail
Forward all e-mail to "outgoing.verizon.net"
Use the MS connector for POP
Use Exchange
Email is held at ISP: incoming.verizon.net
Turn after authentication
Username & password, no SSL
Email domain: blank
POP3 Mailbox: Created one, "incoming.verizon.net", username & password,
assoc with mailbox
Sounds to me like authentication info isn't being sent to Verizon, or I'm
not using the proper protocol. Should I be using Turn after authentication,
or something else?
Thanks
