Re: Win2000 connection problems with Server 2003

Here's something else: If I'm not logged into the domain from the XP
laptop I have full access to the Win2000 box but once I login to the domain
it asks for a user name and password.. Even though I'm logged in with the
same user name and password that has full admin access on the 2000 box it
wont work. I have to login with "computer name/user name" and then the
password for that user on that box. I then have full access. So it must
be a security policy or something to do with domain policy.

Can you ping the server by IP? If yes, can you ping it by name?

I am new to Windows server so my questions may sound noobish. Anyway
I have Windows Server 2003 setup and a mix of XP and Win2000 machines.
I read where there was some limited conectivity with Win2000 but I had no
idea. I can access all the shares on the server from XP but I can't
even see them from 2000. I can see the shares on the 2000 box from the
server but can't access any of them.

Any way around this?

Danny
