Re: slow access xp clients on windows 2003 server

Hello Meinolf,

All computers are correctly in the DNS zone.
Reverse lookup zone is configured and correct.
I did not look for a update for the netwerk card drives, I will try that and
give you the result t monday.

Kind regards and thx for your help.

Hello mvdv,

This looks fine. All computers are registered correctly in the DNS zone?
Do you have also a Reverse lookup zone configured? All network card drivers
are up to date on the problem machines?

Best regards

Hello Meinolf,

Did not solve the problem.
But yesterday I configured 1 new workstation on our domain, the
logon
speed
is good. How could it be that existing workstations are slow.
Workstations are 1 year old, only locale profile, not many policies.
Beste regards.

Hello mvdv,

Enable the policy and run gpupdate /force, reboot or wait up to 90
minutes before the new setting is applied.

Hello mvdv,

Do you have enabled "Always wait for the network at computer
startup and logon" under Computer configuration, administrative
templates, System, Logon? Because XP is visbily up and running
but network comes really late.

Hello Meinolf,

Thx for your reply.

Every client has got the local ip adresses of 2 domain
controllers. The external ISP's DNS adresses are on the domain
controllers (forwarders).

Any other suggestions!

Best regards.

Hello mvdv,

Very often DNS is the problem, make sure to use only domain
internal DNS server ip's on the NIC, no external from your
ISP's DNS.

Hello all,

The problem is that all my clients (windows xp sp3) have a
slow access when they log on to the domain controller. When
they log off and log back in then the access is fast. So only
when they start there Pc and log on for the first time access
is slow.

I use a kix script for all my clients, now sometimes the kix
script
doesn't
load fully.
when I log off and log on again, the problem is solved.
There are no events in my event viewer!
Any kind of information would be great.
