RE: folder access on websrvr frm domain account

Dear Customer,

Thank you for posting in newsgroup.

According to the description, you want to know how to setup security on the
folder which is inside of a folder that is used as IIS website folder to
allow access. If I have any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me
know.

Analysis and Suggestions:
=======================

To access the target folder that is inside of the folder that is used as
IIS website folder, you may try to set both the "Share Permission" and
"NTFS security Permission" of the target folder as allowing "Everyone" with
"Full Control". Since you want to access the target folder within the
program, you may also check if the program has any option to set the access
permission. If so, please adjust the configuration for authentication
within the program for the users to access target folder.

Please note:

1. Share Permissions and NTFS Permissions are independent in the sense that
neither changes the other. The final access permissions on a shared folder
are determined by taking into consideration both the Share permission and
the NTFS permission entries. The more restrictive permissions are then
applied.

2. NTFS permissions affect access both locally and remotely. Share
permissions, by contrast, apply only to network shares. Share permissions
do not restrict access to any local user, or to any terminal server user,
of the computer on which you have set Share permissions. Thus, Share
permissions do not provide privacy between users on a computer used by
several users, nor on a terminal server accessed by several users.

3. By default, Everyone does not include Anonymous, so permissions applied
to Everyone do not affect Anonymous. This default behavior is new for the
Windows Server 2003 family.

Hope it helps.
