Chris, in network connections I see that my cable is unplugged for the 3Com
EtherLink XL NIC and The one working is the Broadcom NetXtreme Gb Ethernet
controller. I will disable the unplugged one. You are right, it's just a
shot, but I will experiment. Thank you for your posts, I found them helpful.

No I'm not suggesting 2 I have seen symptoms just like you are describing.
when a computer has 2 NICs installed and enabled, and you are actually using
only 1. The computer has to "find" the connection that leads to the internet
and hence the delay. Once it finds the correct connection the next request
has to "find" the internet again. It results in connecting to a site (you
look over the page) then click on a link and the computer has to "find"
(10 - 20 second delay) the correct connection again and to the user it
appears really similar to the description you provided here.
Is it possible you have a wireless card installed and enabled that is
automatically connecting to a wireless network?
Just a shot............

I looked in the device manager and it says I have a 3Com EtherLink XL NIC
and
a Broadcom NetXtreme Gb Ethernet controller. So it looks like I only have
one. You must be suggesting that I need two.
Thank you Danny.

By chance do you have 2 NICs on the computer you are connecting to your
server with? If so are both active? Are you actually only using one of
them?
