Re: remote desktop timing out. Help!

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Yet another firewall question. I'm even more confused now. When I try to do
anything with the firewall thru Control Panel, it tells me that firewall is
turned off. SO does this mean that I only hae the live one care firewall on?
ANd in control panel's firewall settings, I can't make any changes there -
it says 'For your security, some settings are controlled by Group Policy'. So
if I have to make changes to this, how do I do it?

Sorry, it is port 3389. For troubleshooting, you may want to start the
windows with clean boot.

Just tried telnet-ing port 80, that didn't work. I used port 3389 and that
worked fine.

I have been using remote desktop for months to access our terminal
server
from my laptop. I am hardwired to my modem using earthlink cable. It
always
worked fine. SUddenly it has started timing out on me. My web access
works
fine, and I can use remoted desktop on my laptop form friend's houses
using
their intenet connection, but mine now it just times out on me.
Earthlink
help was of no help to me at all. I can ping the server fine, get to
the
web
OK, just can't get the remote desktop connection. ANy idea what would
cause
this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
