Found the problem.
The network settings on the servers were pointing to the old DNS
server.

Hello Will,

First check that the DC's itself is ok. Run dcdiag /v and netdiag /v
to check for errors. If are some errors displazed please post the
complete output here. ALso post an ipconfig /all from the dc. How are
printers configured, fixed ip configuration or via DHCP?

Best regards

I didn't transfer FSMO so I did a seize.
The new server is DNS and global is set.
Odd behavior:
we have a fileserver with printer role
4 printers are defined as shared with the list directory on.
I unchecked and rechecked List Directory. Now I can see printers via
find
now.
However, the list disappears the next day.
We also have the printer role defined on Server-b with 3 heavy duty
copy/printers defined.
When I look at the shared properties there is no check box for list
directory.

Hello Will,

Did you move/transfer the 5 FSMO roles BEFORE running dcpromo on
the old one? Is the new one also DNS and Global catalog server?

We originally had Server A as the primary DC with AD.
We added a second Server B with replication.
Our plan was to decommission Server A and make Server B the
primary
DC.
Today via dcpromo we took Server A out of the mix.
We noticed that all of our printers no longer appeared in the
directory list when attempting an add printer.
Server B did have the global catalog set and is issuing IP's. Did
we miss a step in the process of making Server B the primary DC?
