I think the term Intellimirror is almost redundant now.
You use Group Policy Software Installation. Or else as Scooty said you use a
separate Software Distribution tool like SMS,

With RIS can you push out software, and updates to machines? Or does
RIS only push out OS images?

No RIS is only for deploying new machines with a pre established image
for software you could use scripts and group policy or go one better
and use SMS and for patches I would suggest WSUS
