I have an Win2003 infrastucture to manage internet routing process.
On the client machines at TCP configuration Gateway I have added the
Win2003 IP. In my network are users (they have Administrator roles)
that modify the Gateway address to be able navigate on internet. I
would like to know if is possible to filtering in Win2003 the
stations that are granted to navigate ? Something like firewall where
to define only the accepted IP. A free solution will be more
interested. Thanks a lot !
Are you saying your Windows 2003 has multiple NICs and it is being used a
NAT device?
If so, Windows 2003 will not be able tocontrol what you want to do without
stopping them from accessing the necessary resources on the DC, provided
this is a DC. You will need to acquire a very inexpensive Linksys DSL/Cable
router. With the Linksys, you can control access by MAC addresses.
If your Windows 2003 machine is a domain controller with multiple NICs, it
is advised and recommended to single home a DC for numerous reasons, one to
eliminate any errors. Multihomed DCs are proned to have problems if not
configured properly.
