Re: Domain users unable to print to parralel printer

Hi,

Logged in as the problematic user, type "net use" in a command prompt to see if LPT1 is not redirected somewhere.

Yes I did. In fact, while logged-on as domain user and go to the printer and faxes -> go to properties of the printer -> print test page gives the same result.

Additionally I have disabled the logon scripts that maps drive automatically upon domain users login but did not help to fix the problem. I don't understand why a new created domain account with the same privileges as the existing users can print.

Hello Garry,

Did you configure the printer as "Default printer" after installing with the administrator account?

Hi,

We have just installed printers (parallel: LTP1) on 10 of our winxp
workstations and we encounter a very strange problem which we can't
resolve. The printer will only print if we login as the Administrator
or any users which is local to the workstation.

However, when user uses their domain account to login they are unable
to print. The print job will be spooled and disappear in few seconds
as if it sends the job to the printer but the printer will not respond
at all. We tried adding the user as a member of the Administrators
group but still won't print. Take note that we have this problem on
all existing domain users.

"But", if we create a new user in the domain with the same rights with
that of existing users, then we can print. We are using Win2K domain
and WinXp workstations.

Anyone came across this problem and would like to share a solution?

Thanks in advance,
Garry
