Re: Multiple NICs -- directing traffic to one or the other

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

This can be managed by creating two host names for each device, each with a
different host IP.

As Mathieu said, the software will automatically know which card to use
once it knows the IP address of the target machine. The big problem with
multiple NICs is name resolution. If the name resolves to the "wrong" IP for
the target machine, the traffic will use the "wrong" NIC and the "wrong" path.

Hello,

Windows will use the good network card to reach the good network
automatically.

For the outside trafic (anything else than 192.168.100 and .105) it will use
the gateway through the card that has it defined

I'm implementing an iSCSI SAN. Right now I have a two seperate
networks for the SAN traffic and regular network traffic.

I have a Server 2003 R2 server with two NICs:

NIC1 is uses our standard network, 192.168.100.0/24
NIC2 is our SAN VLAN, 192.168.105.0/24

Is there anyway I can tell my Windows server to direct all traffic for
network for the .105 network to NIC2 and all other traffic to NIC1?
