hi
yes, you are right, if you see the error such as ipnat that will cause by
your ras, even if you dont activate your ras and you still have setting on the
ras it will cause your windows firewall cant be started, so you have to
delete everyting in the ras and make sure that is empty before you can start
the service, at the moment is that your ras is empty with no configuration?

Hello Wong Chon Kit
Thank you for your help.
The RRAS server is disabled, at least that's what it says on the services
console.
I searched for the other errors such as " Windows Firewall cannot run because
another ... that might use the network address translation component
(Ipnat.sys)." and everything I found, pointed to disable the RRAS service;
which is its current state on the server.
Although if I open the RRAS console, it shows that the service is stopped
and unconfigured; but there's a blue arrow in the console whereas in other
server it has a red one.
Although that error is not the one that I get when I try to open the windows
firewall console or try stat the service.
Kind regards,
Cesar

Hello,
I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 used as a stand alone server.
Every time I try to access the Windows Firewall console (interface), I get
the following error in the event viewer:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7023
Date: 31/07/2007
Time: 11:41:46 a.m.
User: N/A
Computer: PR-WFL
Description:
The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service terminated
with the following error:
The operating system cannot run Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing
(ICS).
This above record in the event viewer appears after I click the "yes" button
to star the service (Windows Firewall / ICS) at the command prompt when
trying to acces the Windows Firewall.
"Windows Firewall cannot run because the Windows Firewall/Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS) is not running ... "
If I try to start the service manually, the same event is registered in the
event viewer; but addcionally, I get a dialog box with the following message:
"Error 182: 0xb6"
I've searched for this error, but I haven't been able to find any ideas as
to what is causing this problem and hjow to fix it.
Any idea will help.
Thanks in advance.
