What I am confused about though is that the Firewall was off to start with
and is now on. But surely this would not stop internet access??

Run these command and Check the reply
Netsh firewall show state
Netsh firewall show config
Additionaly, I assume you don't have anti-virus software installed , and if
you have then disable it to check if it's culprit.

As said in my previous post, I had tried as both administrator and user.
Neither gave me the option to turn it off. The box was greyed out.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Yes, you should be an administrator

Hi All,
I have just started the administration for a new company and have took over
the old regime's system.
I have replaced an old 98 computer with a new XP one. I have connected this
to the domain (Server 2003 local domain) just fine and everything works
except internet connection. They do not use any proxy's or anything so am
stumped as to why this one PC will not connect and all the others on site
will.
All settings appear to be the same as the others.
Any ideas?
