Re: Can't Ping Self

In news:ef6aXK2OHHA.4996@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
pestocat <gel114@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> stated, which I commented on below:
I have a strange result on one of the PCs on a small network (5 PCs
with one Winserver2003). On one PC I can't ping it's own IP address.
I can ping 127.0.0.1 OK. All looks OK with ipconfig /all. I can ping
the other hosts on the network. However from the other PCs, I can't
ping the problem PC. The problem PC shows up on DNS OK. What could be
happening?

So you are implying that DNS resolves the correct IP (it's current IP) for
the workstation in question?

Please provide an unedited ipconfig /all from the server, a good workstation
and from the workstation in question.

Do you have a spyware and virus solution in place? I assume there are NO
viruses on it and spyware?

Is there a firewall installed on the workstation? If you have an antivirus
solution in place, does it have a built-in firewall? If so, disable all
firewalls on the workstation (the Windows firewall and teh antivirus
firewall, and you may as well disable the spyware solution too. Then test it
again.
