According to the RFC if the DHCP sever is unable to understand or support a
request the request gets dropped.
Thanks

Since I didn't get an answer on the detailed question, let me ask a more
general one:
When a Windows 2000 DHCP Server receives a DHCP Inform packet asking for
settings that it cannot supply, is it supposed to at least respond to that
request with a "no can do" of some sort?
I have a client that is constantly asking the DHCP server for additional
attributes, and the DHCP server is staying silent on the issue.

A Windows 2003 server starts up and gets its IP, DNS, Router, domain, etcby
DHCP successfully. Every two minutes this machine is now issuing DHCP2003
Inform packets asking for a list of other parameters. Other Windows
servers are doing this maybe once every 30 minutes to 60 minutes. What
would cause the one server to keep repeating this request so often?
